Duke of Edinburgh's International Award


Dubai College has helped students engage with their environment and interact with other societies through the highly successful Duke of Edinburgh Award. This award includes community service, a lengthy trek using only a compass, and a map through tough terrain, and to engage in activities.


Dubai College firmly believes that a students should get to experience a rounded lifestyle, which is why the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme is important in setting the standard. It helps students to gain basic and advanced skills that they might not have previously known such as map reading and cooking using basic ingredients.


Dubai College readily offers its extra curricular activities to students wishing to pursue a Duke of Edinburgh Award at either Bronze, Silver or Gold. Students in Year 10 perform the bronze award,Year 11 the silver and Years 12 and 13 the gold award. Each award level is progressively more challenging.


The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award scheme takes place in Dubai, and the trekking in the deserts of the United Arab Emirates.  The Silver expedition currently takes place in Musandam, and the Gold award currently takes place in Nepal, or optionally in the United Arab Emirates.
